Here’s another piece from my collection themed around women alone in bars. You probably know the concept by now, but just in case you don’t: in every story in this themed set, a woman is drinking alone, each for a different reason. Hope you like this gin-infused one.

The gin bar was too bright and Stevie was not in it. Amy glanced over her shoulder, crossed her legs. She was wearing an apricot lip stain social media had convinced her to buy and it was very drying. She picked an ice cube from her glass and outlined her mouth with it.

He would be here soon. He would arrive as a whirlwind. That was how he had flurried through her life so far.
